Hockadilly has posted this fantastic picture of a wartime wedding (check out the lacey dress and 1940s hair) on flickr.com. It was found under the lino in the smallest bedroom in a house in Lansdowne Way, Stockwell.
I am assuming the wedding took place in Stockwell... Does anyone recognise the participants? Does the family still live in the area? Can we identify the church (if that is what it is)?

Hockadilly here: Great to see this posted here, and I'd be thrilled if this family could be traced - I found the photo when I lived in the house in about 1980 and I've kept it ever since because I like it so much. I've always imagined it was taken outside a register office somewhere (not Brixton, I think - different stonework).
Hmmm. I am wondering what those wooden panels are to the left and the right of the grouop. Are they some defence against air raids?

Thank you for commenting. All comments are moderated so it may be a short while before you see your comment on the blog. I will keep back some comments relating to the current Seyi murder trial until it is over, as it is not appropriate to assume guilt or innocence until we have a verdict. I know this is painful to some people who have taken the trouble to comment, but I ask you to be patient.
